Grey Cup Day

November 24, 2013

The Chelsea boys and Boots were heading over to 9 Lambert to celebrate Grey Cup Day. On their way they were planning to have a visit and drop off some big chocolate chip cookies at Amanda's house. They would see new baby Jack. Alas, after a stop at Tim Horton's in Manotick, Papa's car would not start. He called CAA. Then he called Grandpa and Barbara who headed over in their cars.

Soon Papa had the car seats moved to the van and the boys and Boots left for Grandpa's house for a play. Barbara and Kirk enjoyed the warmth of Tim Horton's. Finally the CAA arrived and Kirk and Barbara drove home to join the family.

We decided to check out the sliding hill on Banner Rd. with Samuel while Papa was putting David down for a nap. We combined sliding with football. Boots chewed on some big sticks. Somewhere his dog tags fell off but no luck finding them. Grant and Sam checked out the play structure at the apartment building. Sam saw the geese flying overhead. As the sun set, we headed home.

Now it was time for Sam and Barbara to make a football cake - same pan used for Kirk's birthdays when he was in high school. Sam and Grant played with the little train while waiting for the cake to bake.

Meanwhile David got up from his nap and acted like a Saskatchewan Roughriders player. He loves holding and running with balls!

Maman arrived from work and got big hugs from her boys.

Sam decorated his cake and served it for supper while we were all watching the game. Yeah Roughriders - a big win!

Sam had another quiet play with the train with Grant. Then the boys got in their pjs and we said goodbye.

Boots Goes Birding

November 16, 2013

The Chelsea boys and Boots came over for a visit on Sunday afternoon. After a short play we decided it would be a good time to visit the Wild Bird Care Centre or Stony Swamp for a little birding adventure. We drove in to both parking lots with our sunflower seeds in bags ready to feed the chickadees but both places had No Dog signs :(

We headed over to Cedarview Rd./Lytle Ave. At the end of the street there is a good trail which parallels the 416 all the way to Fallowfield Rd. Boots was allowed on leash, so off we went. David walked with a big smile and Sam held Boots.

Puddles were fun!

We could not attract elusive blue jays or chickadees to our seeds so we left some on the trail for them. We had a good sighting of a pileated woodpecker.

Sam walked/ran all the way to a park. David was on Grandpa's shoulders then travelled with Grant in his backpack.

As the sun was setting we happily headed back to our cars, and home.

Sam was eager to construct an old race track of Papa's.

After dinner the boys played the piano a bit with Maman... while Boots licked David's highchair.

It was fun being together.

SNOW!

November 11, 2013

On Rembrance Day, we dropped in to visit the Chelsea boys on our way home from a long work weekend at the cottage. Samuel was busy outside helping his next door neighbour friend, Ross, build a BIG SMILING snowman. They were afraid Boots would chew his arms.

Little David was enjoying his inside time. Sam came in too and showed us he can put on his own dry pants. David showed off his excellent walking skills and helped Sam run cars down his blue track.

Suppertime for the family and we headed home…

The Day After Hallow'een

November 1, 2013

Friday night we decided to visit our grandsons to check out their Hallow'en fun the night before. Using the Wizard of Oz theme, Karine was Dorothy, Kirk was the scarecrow, Samuel was the lion and little David was the tin man.

Sam showed us his new colouring skills. He pays attention to detail.

We had brought over an old movie projector set of Kirk's - the little bulb still works! Sam had a good time running some movies. Then he had his usual good time playing with Grant.

Meanwhile little David had a good time in the bath followed by a little stroll.

As it got late, it was story time and Sam enjoyed a Hallowe'en marshmallow cone while he was listening to his story.
