A Second Christmas

Friday, January 7, 2022

The boys had a scheduled PD Day on Friday – they had not been at school since before Christmas.  In-school learning is tentatively scheduled for January 17. Until then, it will be back to on-line teaching.

When the boys arrived at 9 Lambert for the day, they were happy to have some game time on their tablets. Molly stayed at the door hoping for a walk. Barbara took her around the block with their neighbour who was walking his dog Orson.

The boys noticed some wrapped gifts under the tree.  Barbara explained she had mistakenly forgotten these gifts at Christmas.  So, we enjoyed a little Christmas #2.  Sam opened a Meccano set to construct and David was happy to have an airplane to launch.  Grandpa checked on his phone for the instructions for flying the plane– it was definitely a plane for outdoors. As it could fly VERY high and far, Grandpa said it would be best to test it out at home with Papa.

There was a short break for lunch.

Everyone agreed to have some outdoors time.  The boys carried their GT snow racers over to the hill by the apartment building. It was fun!

Back at home they enjoyed some hot chocolate and watched another episode of Camp Cretaceous before leaving to meet Papa.

Grant's 50th Birthday

Wednesday, January 5, 2022

The Bowman family celebrated Grant’s 50th birthday at 9 Lambert.  The Chelsea Bowmans arrived and quickly settled in by the fire.  Then everyone enjoyed a Chinese dinner together.  Uncle Craig called to congratulate Grant. After dinner, the Bowman boys burned the used dinner paper plates in the fire.  Then it was time for Grant’s birthday pineapple “cake”, a Bowman tradition.

After dinner, Grandpa set up a Camp Cretaceous movie on Netflix for the boys. The adults introduced Grant to Wingspan a new board nature/birds game. When the game ended, Samuel noted the score. Everyone was happy with their evening together.

Christmas 2021

Saturday, December 25, 2021

There were some restrictions on gatherings this Christmas as omicron, a new COVID 19 variant, was spreading throughout Canada.  Fortunately, we had our “family bubble” so could enjoy some time together. By Christmas morning Uncle Craig had arrived by air from Saskatoon. The Bowman boys and Molly, came to spend the day with Grandpa, Barbara, Uncle Grant and Uncle Craig.  After sharing a Christmas breakfast together, it was time to open the stockings. The boys enjoyed playing with their new games and then had fun on an outdoor sliding hill. Finally, everyone enjoyed the Christmas dinner.
