Grandpa’s Birthday Dinner

August 27, 2020

On their way home from the cottage, Grandpa, Grant, Barbara and Boots dropped in to celebrate Grandpa’s birthday with the Chelsea Bowmans. The Chelsea Bowmans had just returned from a visit for a few days with Karine’s family at their park followed by a camping trip to the Réserve faunique de Papineau-Labelle https://www.sepaq.com/rf/pal/ . Here they had good times on the beach and jumping off rocks into the water with their friends Fenna and Jasper.

Once they got home the boys used their creative energy to design a new platform for their climbing rope.  When Grandpa, Barbara and Grant arrived, the boys proudly showed them their new construction.  Soon Grant joined them on the ropes, and jumping on their trampoline.

Everyone gathered for a pizza supper and a birthday cake (with money!).  Grandpa is now 76!

Summer Vacation Time

August 15-16, 2020

The Bowman boys have been busy with summer activities.  With their parents and some other biking families they visited a parc régional,in  Quebec: Vallée Bras-du-Nord: https://www.valleebrasdunord.com/ near Quebec City for several days, the first week of August.  They report excellent biking trails.  Unfortunately, they also experienced a heavy rainstorm which made a river they had to cross with their car and their “new to them” Boler trailer very challenging.  They made it!

On August 15 the boys and Boots set off for a few days at the cottage, starting with a picnic near Bouchette.  At the cottage, Barbara noted that her shoes and the boys’ shoes were close in size to hers! Soon everyone was busy swimming, tubing, and cooking over the campfire.

The boys mixed up and cooked the ingredients to make ice cream.

Kirk and Karine arrived with the Boler and soon had it set up for sleeping that night.

After breakfast the next morning, Grandpa took the K&K family out in the boat to look for eagles and a baby loon and then do some fishing. Sam was happy to hold up a very large bass they caught.

The it was time for lunch on the beach, for Grandpa’s annual homemade ice cream cones and for some more water fun (note that the water gun belongs to Uncle Craig).

The next morning two loons and a gull greeted us on the water and the neighbour’s puppy Maddie came over to visit.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable family visit.
