Grandpa's New Boat

April 28, 2015

Today Grandpa and Barbara were picking up their new Legend fishing boat and taking it up to the cottage.

While they were at the boat dealer's, Papa texted Grandpa to let him know that he was home with the boys (daycare felt David was sick) and they would like to see the new boat. No problem - the Chelsea boys lived on the way to the cottage. They loved checking out the boat features.

We had a picnic/BBQ lunch together and Sam proudly showed us a "sparkly" rock he had made. Then he worked at raking a new bike path around the house, through the forest and past some flowers.

Then it was time for putting the cover back on the boat and attaching the boat to the van.

The boat made it up to its new home. In another few weeks it should be in the water and ready for the boys to have their first ride.

Samuel's Swimming Lesson

April 20, 2015

Today Sam started swimming lessons at the Plant Recreation Centre. We met Karine and the boys at the pool - Karine had to leave to attend her uncle's funeral so Grandpa was in charge of getting Sam set. David, Grant and Barbara enjoyed the view of the pool from the foyer. Sam had a small class with his instructor, Maggie. He participated well in all the activities.

It was a rainy day, so we brought the boys to 9 Lambert for lunch, playtime and a nap for David. We had a great time together.

Sunday Visit

April 19 2015

Today the boys went biking on the parkway bikepath with Mike and Tas. After they came over a visit. As usual, the John Deere vehicle was popular.

After lunch (pizza), Sam planted a slip we had rooted together and he watered it carefully.

Then the boys installed a kickstand on Sam's bike - a little hacksawing was required.

When Maman joined us after her course, we went for a bike ride around the Bruce Pit. Unfortunately, Barbara hit Sam's bike when he stopped suddenly and they both went down - soon we were back on the trail. Then we biked over to Metro and a nearby park. Sam had a great time on the tire swing.

Finally Karine and the boys enjoyed some piano time together.

Playtime

April 13, 2015

When we arrived  at 47 chemin de la rivière, the boys were inside playing, still in their pjs. Sam soon got dressed to okay outside but David wanted to stay inside with Grant and Maman.

Sam checked out Ross's new bike. Then the boys had a "treasure hunt" with Barbara. Their favourite treasure was "ice" where they had so much fun sliding in their boots on Ross' rink.

Maman went grocery shopping and when she got back, David proudly helped her unpack the bags.

Maman prepared a snack for eating on the warm deck. David soon got dressed and  enjoyed the snack. The older boys just kept happily playing together.

Maple Syrup

April 12, 2015

We visited the Chelsea boys at home to join them in a fun "sugaring" day in the sunshine.
When we arrived, they were visiting their neighbours who were boat sitting for friends. The kids were in the boat. Samuel and Stella were wearing lifejackets. Levi and David checked out the equipment.

We admired Papa's new maple sap boiling stove. This would be there last day boiling sap from their ten trees.

Then it was back to Stella's and Levi's to play in the mud, make a river and try out the slide. Boots chomped on a large piece of ice and a cheerful song sparrow chirped for us.

We all gathered at the boys house for a BBQ lunch together.

The kids had a good play in the forest. Their friend, Ross, joined them.

Grandpa and Barbara took Boots for a walk on a new path (too icy to go far).

When they returned it was time to take the ten pails off their trees and to finish boiling the sap.

David enjoyed a good nap and Levi went home for a nap too.

Tired happy boys.
