Anniversary and Birthday

Saturday, July 30, 2022

This was a busy day for the Bowman family. It was Kirk and Karine’s 11th anniversary and Barbara’s 76th birthday.  The K&K family were getting set up to head out the next morning for a mountain biking park near Quebec City. Everyone got together at K&K’s house. Barbara was celebrating her 76th birthday, then she would join Grandpa and Uncle Grant for a trip to the cottage. Kirk gave Grant some instructions for feeding/watering the chickens, rabbits and Misty the cat when they would be away. A neighbour’s two dogs joined Molly in the celebration.

Baseball in Aylmer

Tuesday, July 26, 2022

Grandpa, Barbara and Grant joined Papa and David to watch Sam play ball in Parc Aydelu in Aylmer.  This time we used our cell phones to take some shots. Although it was another loss, the team made some good hits and runs. David had a fun time in the park with Grant.

Watch Sam make a good hit a drive in a run.

A Few Days at the Cottage

Friday, July 22- Sunday,24, 2022

Grandpa, Barbara and Grant picked up the Bowman boys at home for a trip to the cottage for a few days. Papa and Maman would be enjoying the Hamilton musical at the NAC on Friday night.  Although La Cigale was not open we found some BIG ice cream cones in Kazabazua on the way up. It wasn’t long before we were unloading the Rogue at 9 Chemin Tims.

The boys were soon trying out their new kayaks – marked with duct tape initials.

Then it was fishing time with Grandpa.  He caught a 4lb. bass!

The boys decided they would collect some minnows in the AquaTank Aunt Cathy had brought to the cottage many years ago for their Dad.  They really enjoyed watching the minnows swim.  At nighttime they released them back in the lake.

Another swim… a favourite activity – swimming and jumping off the raft.  Both boys swim well.

Before supper they worked on making the Canada Puzzle.  It took about an hour to complete with Grant’s help.  Then they talked about the different provinces they had visited.

Supper was Sam’s favorite dinner which the boys made: Lasagna and Caesar salad.

The next morning was raspberry picking time with Grandpa – he would make his raspberry jam got when they got back.  It was a good day for picking.

While Grandpa made his jam, the boys had a swim and then played on Sam’s tablet and had lunch. In the afternoon, Sam made some popcorn and everyone watched the 1995 Batman Forever movie.

Grandpa made a maple fondue for supper 😊

After supper Uncle Grant and David had a good game of Battleship.

Sunday was the go home day.

First the fishers went out – and caught 5 good bass keepers.

Barbara took the Canada Puzzle over to the Brownlee girls to try. They had fun and got it together easily.

After lunch, Grant and David played The Language Game.  Then we packed up and headed home.

They spotted a Red-tailed Hawk and two Sandhill Cranes on the way home.  The boys were happy to see their parents and their animals – they are “dog sitting “ Chase and Sky, two large dogs.  They are much larger than Molly!  Everyone went for a walk together.
