Grandpa’s Fishing Stories

Thursday, August 29, 2019

School would start next Tuesday.  The boys spent a last day with Grandpa, Barbara and Grant. We decided to make our lunches and then visit Grandpa’s boyhood fishing spot on the Rideau River to try out Grandpa’s new iBobber. Of course, Sam found a tree to climb.

After lunch we hiked along the river to Brantwood Park and the boys had fun trying out the play equipment.

We talked about the meaning of “Rideau” River and explained that the where the river flowed into the Ottawa River the falls looked like a large “curtain”.  We decided to go and have a look.  The boys were very impressed by the size of the falls and the on-site artillery guns.

Our day ended with a barbeque at 9 Lambert complete with ice cream treats.

Grandpa’s Family Birthday

Thursday, August 22, 2019

Grandpa would turn 75 on August 27.  As he would be away that day, we planned a family picnic at Britannia Park. The boys enjoyed playing games, climbing a tree, picnic food, birthday raspberry pie and surprising Grandpa with an iBobber for fishing.  The evening ended with a magnificent sunset over the Ottawa River.
