SPRING ARRIVES

 March 20, 2021

After a long winter with COVID 19 restrictions, our family was able to have a fun outdoor afternoon at 47 Chemin de la rivière.  The snow was melting fast and the sap was running.

The boys were eager to test out their trampoline again.  Maman and Molly joined them for awhile. Spirits were high.

Meanwhile Papa and Grant tended the woodstove as the maple sap boiled.

Then Grandpa, Barbara and Grant went for a ski on the Wakefield train tracks.  David, Maman and Papa and Molly led them to the path descending to the trail. The trail was in good condition, but was getting thin in patches.  Grandpa checked out the bird feeders along the trail and was happy to see a Common Redpoll.  When they returned, David met them on his bicycle and Maman, Papa and Molly came too.

Back home, the sap was merrily boiling and David cooked a hot dog on the fire.  Grandpa, Barbara and Grant headed for home as the bright sun was low in the sky.

Snow Day

 March 3, 2021

Our family decided to get together for an outdoors snow day. Quebec COVID rules now allowed for outdoor gatherings. Kirk was at work, but Karine was at home looking after the boys who were on their March Break.  Grandpa, Barbara and Grant met Karine/boys at Lac Philippe/Breton Beach for a cross-country ski and a winter picnic lunch. After a cookie snack, everyone was on the trail. The boys had new skate skis and were soon zooming along, turning on the trail to Taylor Lake.  After a water break, David and Barbara decided to head back to get the picnic set up. David enjoyed writing his name in the snow on the way. An NCC official had kindly offered to shovel off a picnic table for us.  David got a sliding trail ready near the table.  Soon we were enjoying hot soup and scones (from the Antrim Truck Stop).  Then the boys had some fun sliding.

We all returned home with the boys as Karine had some fresh chicken eggs for Grandpa.  We had a big welcome from Molly.  We all agreed it was good to have some time together.
