A Happy 7 Year Old

January 26, 2017

Grandpa, Barbara and Grant dropped in to see Samuel, the birthday boy, after supper. He showed us his rainbow cake and his personal 7th birthday bookmark from his teacher. He showed us an amazing airplane piƱata Maman made for his birthday party with friends on Saturday. Then the boys loved giving us a demo of Sam`s new garbage truck.

Of course, he had fun opening his gifts from us and a new shirt from Great Aunt Wanda. He enjoyed trying his magic wand and some of the magic tricks that Grant gave him.

It was time for his special rainbow cake. Papa turned out the lights to make the candles glow in the dark. David, of course, helped him blow out his candles. Check the photos - in one you can see the space of Sam`s missing bottom tooth - it`s the tooth that came out on Christmas Day..

Then the boys had 15 minutes of Paw Patrol and then it was time for bed.

Sick Day for David

January 16, 2017

Today David wasn't feeling well. Barbara picked Boots and him up at Maman's clinic. David was happy to have some orange juice with Grant. Then they had fun play hockey. It wasn't long before he got tired, watched some TV (he likes Paw Patrol) and had a nap. Grandpa, Barbara and Grant took the sleepy boy home in the afternoon where Maman had just arrived.

Skiing P16

January 7, 2017

It was a cold clear Saturday and the Bowman family decided to go cross country skiing near the boys' Chelsea home. Ski conditions were excellent. Sam skied all the way to the old Healy Farmhouse, about 5 km. David skied most of way but occasionally held on to the back of the chariot for a lift.

The lodge was very busy. David cried a bit as his feet thawed out. A young mother told us when her little son's feet are very cold, he puts them on her warm bare tummy. Barbara tried this and it worked! We toasted our pizza and sandwiches on the wood stove. Grandpa offered hot chocolate to everyone. Barbara checked out the birds at the feeder.

Then it was time to ski back to our cars - more downhill this direction. Both boys took short turns in the chariot. We were happy to turn on our car heaters and to head over to the boy's house for a warm up by the fire.

Birthday and Skating

January 6, 2017

The boys and Boots spent another day this week with Barbara, Grandpa and Grant. We looked at Grant's globe and talked about China. We would have Chinese food for lunch. It was fun to try to eat with chopsticks. Fortune cookies were good too.

Sam carefully carried Grant's watermelon birthday cake and the boys enjoyed helping him blow out his candles.

After lunch we went skating at the rink on Centrepointe Dr. Both boys did very well and enjoyed zooming around.

Back at 9 Lambert they had a little quiet time watching the Paw Patrol, a favourite program, on TV.
