The week of David’s 8th birthday, Papa was
working at home because of COVID-19 performance cancellations at the NAC, Maman
had some time off and Samuel was not at school for two weeks as a classmate had
tested positive for COVID - Sam was getting home online schooling with his
teacher and class. David, the birthday boy,
however, was at school. He took the school bus, without his brother. So, on his birthday – a colourful fall day, Grandpa,
Barbara and Grant drove over to his house to meet his school bus on Wednesday afternoon.
David was soon running up the hill, happy to be home.
Luckily, David’s 2 neighbourhood friends, Ross and Fiona,
were able to visit outdoors and at a distance. So he was able to have a small
birthday celebration at home. Maman had set up a special treasure hunt for them,
including climbing a large tree.
David had a good time opening his presents.
Building toys and vehicles from Grant (Minecraft
Lego) and grandparents (Cabella’s trailer set), a building toy from his friends,
a new red shirt from Aunt Wanda, and a big surprise, a drone (ages 14 and up!)
from his family.
Then a campfire and birthday cake time…
As a happy end to the “party” Maman set up the recipe and ingredients
to make “Fluffy slime” and the boys got right into making it. They then had a great time stretching it. Lots of laughs! It was a fun end to the party.
