Geocaching and Ditches

April 24, 2016

We had a fun day in Chelsea. We arrived at the boys' house when they were just returning from a bike ride. Sam was trying out Levi's big bike with gears. Then they had some trampoline time. David tried out the John Deere but it needed recharging so Grant helped it back to the "garage" under the deck.

Now it was time for Maman and Papa to go out for lunch and a hike and we went to Tim Horton's in Chelsea where we had a good lunch on the patio. After lunch, Grandpa showed Sam how to use his GPS so they could look for a geocache nearby. The boys quickly cleaned up the lunch garbage and were off to find the geocache. It didn't take long to find it. It was a mini-cache so we just had to remove the note and sign the paper. That was fun! Then Sam picked some yellow Coltsfoot flowers for Bill - Bill told him they were a sign of spring.

Then they travelled to the Wakefield covered bridge for another geocache. Sam led us to it again. It had a strong magnet holding it down and took some muscles to remove from its hiding pace. It was another mini-cache. We signed the paper and put the cache back in its secret hiding place while David enjoyed picking up small stones and throwing them down into the river.

We decided to hike to the Wakefield bakery while Grandpa would drive there. The kids had so much fun playing in the ditches and picking cattails Grandpa got tired waiting and walked to meet us. Grant's airplane rides were popular too. Grandpa told us about some noisy wood frogs he heard so we all checked them out in a large pond. There were several frogs and we spotted some black frog eggs in the water. Sam and David tried crossing a small creek on some boards. It was a good time outdoors. When Sam got home he planted some cattail seeds he had saved in the nearby ditch along Chemin de la rivière.
