Christmas, Ski and Birthday

December 9, 2018

It was Sunday before Mama’s birthday (on Tuesday).  We had a family ski planned.
First we got together at 47 Chemin de la Rivière where the boys worked at putting their new Christmas puzzle balls together (with a little help – 54 rounded plastic pieces to carefully fit together).  Sam finished his and put it on their Christmas tree. Then they checked out Grandpa’s moose gingerbread cookies. They disappeared fast!

Then it was off to the Gatineau Park P 10, for the long ski up the parkway. After a rest on the bench at the top of the mountain…  we decided to ski a bit more to the tiny Shilly Shally cabin where we gathered inside around the picnic table and had our lunch. This was a great break.

Then the boys wanted to try skiing down the steep “Khyber Pass” hill. Check out the video – too bad that an adult skier who was walking in the middle of the trail blocked the path part of the way down.  Still the boys had fun.

After stops at stores for supplies, we returned home for Maman’s birthday dinner. While Papa was fixing up his homemade chili and potatoes, Sam and Grandpa played Mario Cart and David and Grant finished constructing David’s Christmas puzzle ball which joined Sam’s on the tree.  David enjoyed showing Grant how to make the train run around the tree.

Grandpa and Sam set the table.  Soon we were all enjoying our dinner – and raspberry mousse birthday cake.

After dinner Maman played the piano. The boys enjoyed a Memory Game: David won the first game and tied Grandpa for the second.  Then it was time for a bath and bed.
