Horses, Skating and Magic!

Our community association had organized a children's winter activities day at the park. Papa brought the boys over on Sunday morning (Maman was on a course). David tucked in for a long sleep and Sam, Papa, Grandpa and Grant headed over to the community building to check out the fun. Sam soon was showing off his new skating skills.

Sam loved the horses and wagon - he went for five rides!

He also enjoyed a campfire and some toasted marshmallows.

After a sleigh ride, Papa walked home to have a rest (flu)

Sam, Grandpa and Grant stayed at the park for a snack and magic show.

and another sleigh ride and some more skating... Sam skated with one of Grandpa's Venturers, Ryan, and with Grant.

Finally everyone  returned home and David got up to play.

Grandpa showed Barbara pictures of the fun at the park.

And before going home, the boys played in a box, constructed a small biplane and made a puzzle (with some help from Boots).

We celebrated Uncle Grant's birthday on New Year's Day. A big surprise for Grant - a new Chessie System engine and cars for his train. Everyone got in the action of hitching up the new engine and cars. The engine has a headlight!

Barbara  had set up her family windup toys so the boys had a quick play with these too. Smoking Grandpa was the favourite.

We toasted the new year together. Then we used chopsticks Barbara and Grandpa brought back from China to dig into some delicious Chinese food.

Grant and David finished their dinner with a little play time.

Then Grant and boys blew out the birthday candles on his pineapple "cake".

Maman and Sam played some music for us.

Then some more train time, testing out David's tunnel.

To complete the evening, we watched Sam's friend Stella's favorite movie, Frozen. It was a good time together.
