Samuel's Birthday with Friends

January 25, 2015

On Sunday at 1pm all was ready for Samuel's pirate 5th birthday party at his house.

It was a cold sunny day with lots of snow. Friends arrived and soon joined in the outdoor fun.

A campfire for roasting marshmallows...

Snowballs, a snow fort and just enjoying snow time...

Grant pulled David in a sled but the little guy was tired and soon came indoors for a long nap.

Soon the party kids were sliding.

Hunter tried out some hockey on Ross's rink with his Dad and Papi.

Yum... hot chocolate!

After about an hour, everyone came in for snacks and a very busy play time.

Karine organized a find the treasure hunt game

.
And Papa set up a pirate ship piƱata. This was very popular. Everyone scrambled for candies and toys.

Then it was pirate cake time. The granddads enjoyed two cupcakes each.

Sam's friends handed him their gifts to open and then they played with some of them.

Sleepy David woke up and joined this part of the party too. Sam gave him a big kiss on the cheek.

It was a super success with lots of smiles from everyone.

Skiing on Ridge Road

January 24, 2015

On Saturday afternoon Grandpa and Grant, Papa and Maman went  cross country skiing, from Kingsmere to Keogan's, in the Gatineau Park. Grant pulled the chariot just in case Sam got tired.

Sam can ski the steep hills. Check out the video:

When they arrived at Keogan's, a Barred Owl greeted them.

Sam tried out his downhill skiing techniques on big runs:

He got a little help from the chariot when he needed it (not often).

Soon he was back home, showing Grant his train and helping his parents make his birthday cupcakes. His 5th birthday party is tomorrow.

Quiet Day at Home

January 19, 2015

Today Papa and Maman had to leave early to get Samuel registered for school next September. Both boys had been sick in the night so still needed some rest. Sam watched TV while David fed Boots. He then had a few Cheerios.

They relaxed in the bath - they both love to play in the water.

Then we made puzzles, played kitchen and ran the Polar Express.

Sam was happy to show us his magic trick. We videotaped it so we could show the trick to Grant.

Check out the magic video:

We had a very happy morning together.
