Although it was a cool day with rain threatening we decided
to go ahead with our plan to go cycling with the boys and to have a hot picnic
brunch. Unfortunately it was a work day for Karine so she could not join us.
We met at 9:30am
at the parking lot adjacent to l'Eloi restuarant. Samuel gave Barbara a big
gift bag with a "bird" solar light for her cottage garden. A nice
start to Mother's Day.
We were soon off on our adventure, with Sam leading the way.
At a bridge the boys had fun dropping stones into the water
to see the splashes.
We spotted a singing Warbling Vireo.
Grandpa let Sam help him pump the Coleman stove. Grandpa
heated egg/sausage English muffins, bacon, pancakes and toast. We also had
watermelon, raspberries and orange slices, and thermoses of hot chocolate,
coffee and tea.
A Ring-billed Gull was very interested in our food. David
shooed him away.
Grant and the boys had fun on the play structure in the
park. Then it was time for the tired David to get home for his afternoon nap.
