Vancouver Day 3

January 12, 2019

Today our family was invited by Aunt Cathy and Uncle Bruce for “Drinks and a Casual Dinner “ at the Yaletown Brewing Company, 1111 Mainland Street.  Here we would meet Bruce’s brother, Lee’s family who live in Calgary and Aki’s mother and aunt from Japan and friend from Vancouver.  This gathering was at 5pm.

It was another beautiful sunny day. At breakfast we all planned what we would do.  The boys wanted to go on the train and the Chelsea Bowmans and Grant decided to take the train to Science World.  They packed a lunch and ate it on a bench outside the large globe building.  Inside the Centre they checked out the interactive displays where they enjoyed the building activities.  They also went to the Omnimax show on volcanos, billed as an “adrenaline-filled, immersive experience! They left Science World by train in time to meet the family for dinner at 5pm.

Pamela, Craig, Barbara and Grandpa enjoyed a birding out at Jericho Park where they also had their lunch on a bench.  They were pleased to see several species, predominately water birds.

At 5pm all the dinner guests had gathered at the Yaletown Brewery. We were pleased to meet Sean and Aki before their wedding the next day.  Aunt Cathy gave each of the 4 “big” boys an activity bag.  They enjoyed making planes and working on some lego.  Rinko (Aki’s mother) and Keiko (Aki’s aunt) also kept the boys entertained with origami. Aki and Sean opened our gifts/cards.  It was a very happy time together.

It was dark when we left, the boys, parents and Grant on the train and the rest of us in Craig’s car.
