Thanksgiving and Birthday

Thanksgiving Day, Monday, October 14, 2019

We had so much to be thankful for today.  The autumn leaves were at their peak.  David was enjoying his 7th birthday gifts, inside and out. His party was over when Grandpa, Barbara and Grant arrived but his neighbours Ross and Fiona joined in the fun. The family Thanksgiving buffet dinner (with whipped cream for pumpkin pie) was also popular.

A Day at the Canada Science and Technology Museum

Friday, October 4, 2019

Today was a PD day for the boys. We asked them what they would like to do and right away David said “visit a museum”. We considered all the options and Grant suggested the boys would enjoy the Science and Technology museum the best as there are many interactive activities for children.

After Papa drove the boys to the Mill for pick up at 7:45am, we brought them to 9 Lambert.  David enjoyed showing us how to make a bunny out of a glove.

They played for a few minutes and then we made our lunches and headed out to the museum at 9:30.

It certainly was no trouble entertaining us all for the whole day.  It was quite quiet at the museum as the Ottawa kids were at school. The boys enjoyed the train, the Crazy Kitchen  and the many interactive activities.

As well they appreciated the two scientific lectures featuring liquid nitrogen and fire.

Their day at the museum ended with a fun craft where they designed simple machines which could draw circles.

Back at 9 Lambert they climbed a tree and then it was time to travel to Maman’s office for their trip home.

Fall Visit to Big Cedar Lake

Saturday and Sunday, September 21-22, 2019

Maman was working on Saturday so the Bowman boys decided to come up to the cottage to go tubing (last chance) and fishing.  Their visit started with a campfire lunch (Papa tried hard to get a fire starter kit to work but found that matches were a lot better). Yummy sausages and s’mores. Then tubing – the water was getting cold but they went for a long ride, switching tubers behind the boat. Then a game, some popcorn (Grandpa popped it over the propane burner).  It was warm enough for an outdoor dinner on the deck, followed by one of Grandpa’s Chatter the Red Squirrel stories.

Early the next morning the boys went down to the dock with Barbara to watch the sun rise. It was cloudy but the bright colours showed them where it was.  After breakfast more fishing and more games with Papa.  Sam showed his two “friends” he made at school.  David had his too.
