It was a cold clear Saturday and the Bowman family decided
to go cross country skiing near the boys' Chelsea
home. Ski conditions were excellent. Sam skied all the way to the old Healy
Farmhouse, about 5 km. David skied most of way but occasionally held on to the
back of the chariot for a lift.
The lodge was very busy. David cried a bit as his feet
thawed out. A young mother told us when her little son's feet are very cold, he puts them on her warm bare tummy. Barbara tried this and it worked! We toasted our pizza and sandwiches on the wood stove. Grandpa
offered hot chocolate to everyone. Barbara checked out the birds at the feeder.
Then it was time to ski back to our cars - more downhill
this direction. Both boys took short turns in the chariot. We were happy to
turn on our car heaters and to head over to the boy's house for a warm up by
the fire.
