Maman and Papa were both working today so Grandpa, Barbara
and Grant met the boys at the Mill. Soon
we were hiking to the Parliament Buildings to watch the Changing of the Guard
Ceremony. The kids were attentive and listened to the explanatory broadcast. (Barbara
did not like the big garbage trucks passing by the ceremony.
After the guards marched out, we hiked to the back of the
Parliament Buildings. The boys liked to look down at activities on the Ottawa
River. David spotted a biplane going overhead.
Then we checked out the eternal flame – lots of questions
about how it could burn in water. The
boys found their province emblem and threw some coins in there.
Then it was time to head back to the car. Highlights were construction equipment at the
West Block and the water fountain at the National Library.
Back home the boys checked out enjoyed the water fountain in
the backyard.
